Purpose: This policy governs all video, photo, and audio submissions (“Content”) provided by members or contributors for publication on the official Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association® (CVMA®) Chapter 40-3 Website, YouTube Channel, and affiliated social media or promotional platforms.
I. Ownership and Usage Rights
The creator (the individual who recorded or produced the content) retains ownership of their original work unless otherwise specified in writing.
By submitting content to CVMA® Chapter 40-3, the creator grants the Chapter and the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association® (“CVMA®”) a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to:
Publish, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, edit, and adapt the content, in whole or in part.
Use the content across official CVMA® and Chapter 40-3 platforms, including websites, YouTube, social media, and event promotions.
Create derivative works (such as highlight reels, compilations, or recruitment materials).
This license allows the chapter to use the content indefinitely, without further permission or payment.
No compensation will be provided for the submission or use of content unless agreed in a separate written contract.
II. Optional Ownership Transfer
In certain cases, such as official chapter productions, promotional campaigns, or content created using chapter resources, the chapter may request a full transfer of ownership (“assignment of copyright”) from the creator to CVMA® Chapter 40-3.
Any such transfer will occur only through a separate written agreement signed by both parties.
In all other cases, the creator retains ownership while granting the license described in Section 1.
III. Representations and Warranties
By submitting content, the creator affirms that:
They are the original creator or have obtained necessary permissions.
The content does not infringe on copyright, trademark, privacy, or publicity rights.
All individuals identifiable in the content have consented to recording and public display.
The content does not include hate speech, defamatory material, or unlawful behavior.
IV. Privacy and Consent
The creator agrees to comply with Maryland’s two-party consent law (Md. Code, Cts. & Jud. Proc. §10-402).
The creator must obtain consent from individuals shown or heard in the content, particularly in private settings.
The chapter reserves the right to reject or remove any content violating privacy or consent laws.
V. Use of CVMA Branding and Imagery
The CVMA® name, patch, logo, and insignia are protected trademarks of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association®.
These may only be used in accordance with National CVMA® media and branding policies.
Content must reflect the organization’s values of Respect, Honor, and Integrity.
VI. Review and Approval
All submissions are subject to review by the Chapter Public Relations Officer or a designated media coordinator.
The Chapter may edit, modify, or decline any submission for quality, accuracy, or policy compliance.
Posted content may be removed at any time without notice if deemed inappropriate or legally problematic.
VIII. Agreement and Acknowledgment
By signing below or submitting content electronically, I confirm that I have read, understood, and agree to this policy. I certify that I have the authority to grant the permissions described above.
By drawing or typing your name, you affirm this serves as your electronic signature.
